Give Yourself Room to Grow
You may not have a need for a lot of warehousing space at the moment, but that could change in the next few years. Don’t pay for space you don’t need at this time, but don’t limit yourself to a small warehouse that will not be able to support your growing business. If you do, you may sacrifice your earning potential, or you may be forced to move your entire inventory to a new location once you outgrow your confinement.
At OverFlo, we have over two million square feet of warehousing space that you can use as needed. With this much flexibility, you will never have to worry about transferring to another distribution enter. Let us know what you need now and what you may need in the future, and we will set up a plan that’s just right for your growing small business.
Ask about Insurance and Security
To find the right warehouse for your needs, make sure you ask about the insurance and security the property provides. This includes protection against theft, fire, water damage, and anything else that may come up. If you are expected to insure your items or pay the warehouse for insurance, you need to know how much that will cost. You also need to know what actions the distribution center takes to maintain optimum security in the facility all year long.
Trust Your Gut Instinct
When you assess the warehousing options available for you, trust your gut instinct. If an opportunity seems too good to be true, check it out in more detail to figure out why you’re getting such a good deal. What do customers have to say about the warehouse? Is it located in a bad area? Can you trust your merchandise in the hands of this company? Remember that once you sign up with a warehouse, that company becomes part of your brand. They define your customer satisfaction levels, and you should do everything you can to protect them.
Don’t Invest until You’re Ready
If you can hold everything you need in the back of the store, don’t invest in warehousing that just isn’t necessary for you. Save your money until the time when you are no longer able to support everything you need in your current location. Of course, if deliveries and storage in your current location are high, you may be better off working with a warehouse that has a better location. Get a quote for the type of space you need so you can decide what’s right for you.
